چکیده

BACKGROUND: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) mostly occurs due to the destruction of pancreatic beta cells autoimmune processes. Diagnosis T1D can be established by examining c-peptide levels and markers autoantibodies, including glutamic acid decarboxylase 65 autoantibodies (GAD-65). However, association between anti-GAD-65 toward patients’ clinical manifestations needs further explored. Hence, aim current study was identify anti-GAD65 with characteristics in children T1D.METHODS: Case-control involving 47 (T1D group) 41 healthy (control younger than 18 years old conducted. Secondary data regarding subjects’ demographic medical history were collected from subjects, serum blood drawn each subject for measurement. Anti-GAD65 measured using an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) methods.RESULTS: antibody detected 78.7% group, while only 2.43% control group (p=0.0000). The level 0.07±0.19 nmol/L 1.5±0.77 total daily dose insulin subjects positive greater negative (p=0.012). sensitivity specificity 85.4% 66.7%, respectively.CONCLUSION: results this show that associated requirement T1D.KEYWORDS: mellitus, type diabetes, anti-GAD65,

Prevalence of Type 1 Diabetes Correlates with Daily Insulin Dose, Adverse Outcomes and with Autoimmune Process Against Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase in Adults

The territorial differences in the prevalence of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) around the world were previously reported (Amos et al., 1997; Green & Patterson, 2001; Lévy-Marchal, 2001), but the data were based on the study of juvenile T1D epidemiology, i.e., in patients diagnosed with T1D before the age of 15 years. These data became the basis for the epidemiological evaluation of the whole T...

INVESTIGATION ON ANTI-GLUTAMIC ACID DECARBOXYLASE ANTIBODIES IN TYPE I DIABE TES MELLITUS

Antibodies directed against the enzyme glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) are believed to be the main cause of destruction of pancreatic islet cells in type I (insulin dependent) diabetes mellitus. The enzyme was found both in the brain and pancreatic beta cells. Although similarities in identity of GAD in human and rat brain have been demonstrated, little is known about the interaction betw...

IGF2BP2 Alternative Variants Associated with Glutamic Acid Decarboxylase Antibodies Negative Diabetes in Malaysian Subjects

BACKGROUND The association of Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2) common variants (rs4402960 and rs1470579) with type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been performed in different populations. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of alternative variants of IGF2BP2; rs6777038, rs16860234 and rs7651090 with glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies (GADA) negative diabe...

Class II HLA genotype in fulminant type 1 diabetes: A nationwide survey with reference to glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies

UNLABELLED Aims/Introduction:  Fulminant type 1 diabetes is a subtype of type 1 diabetes characterized by a remarkably abrupt onset of insulin-deficient hyperglycemia within a few days. The aim of the present study was to clarify characteristic class II HLA genotypes in a large number of patients with fulminant type 1 diabetes to date. MATERIALS AND METHODS   We analyzed the HLA-DRB1 and DQB1...
